ship, Export Freedom , which had spotted a vessel adrift, with no lights and radio, about 780 nautical miles east northeast of Bermuda, about one-third of the way to the Azores.

The call came in about 5.45 p.m. Bermuda time and was reported to the Rescue Coordination Center in Norfolk, Virginia. The Export Freedom was requested to investigate further.
