Antiguans certain they can do better

Bermuda have made four changes from the team that beat his side 3-0 in Antigua last month in the first leg of their World Cup qualifier.

"That is good news for us, not that the other guys can't do the job,'' Clarke said yesterday after hearing that full-back Albert Caisey and midfielder Voorhees Astwood will both be missing tonight (8.00) because of their religious beliefs. Also out are Kenny Thompson, who scored Bermuda's opening goal in Antigua and forward Sammy Swan.

Needing to win by a four-goal margin away from home, and with problems in their team, Antigua will be hoping to seize every advantage they can to keep their World Cup dream alive.

"The morale of the team is very high, there are some difficulties, yes, but we're very confident we can do it,'' said Clarke, who takes over the coaching job from William Lewis and Rohan Benjamin who are both unavailable for the trip.

Clarke was the assistant manager when Bermuda was in Antigua and though he has no coaching experience the former international youth team defender insists he is no rookie. "I played the game back home at the highest level,'' he pointed out yesterday.

"I'm in my third year with the team in a management capacity and we do have an input in the team, so I'm not a complete novice.'' Clarke will not finalise his team until later today but they are sure to change from the first leg in St. John's, with forward Everton Gonsalves left out and midfielder Beverly Deterville ruled out because of injury.

Antigua's hopes could hinge on how early they manage to reduce the three-goal deficit against Bermuda.
