Bizarro, of North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish, and other cyclists overtook a marked Police car at that time on "Shelly Bay stretch'' or North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish.

The officer gave chase and, due to traffic conditions, was only able to catch up with Bizarro and another cyclist on Middle Road, near the Whitney Institute.

As the officer got out of the car Bizarro circled the vehicle and rode off.

He was chased through Verdmont Road, Devonshire at speeds between 70 and 80 kph.

The officer noted Bizarro turned off his lights and cut corners and on at least two occasions forced traffic to take evasive action.

Bizarro was also seen to run a stop sign. He made his way back to North Shore Road, racing past the Terceira's Gas Station In Hamilton Parish at a speed approaching 80 kph.

During the lengthy chase traffic had to brake sharply to avoid hitting him.

Bizarro was caught at the Barker's Hill Roundabout in Devonshire by a roadblock.

BIRTHDAY TURNS SOUR CTS Birthday turns sour Self-employed painter Eldon Frost got an unwelcome birthday present when he was booked for drunk driving after hitting a car.

Frost, 43, of Rockland Crescent, Warwick, admitted hitting the back of a car with his motorbike causing slight damage at the roundabout on Trimingham Road, Paget, on November 16.

Crown counsel Charmaine Smith said that when he was questioned by Police, Frost said: "It's my birthday today.'' Frost, who admitted driving with excess alcohol, was found to have 227 miligrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 miligrammes in 100 mililitres.

He apologised to Magistrate Archibald Warner, who fined him $1000 and banned him from driving for one year.

$5,000 BAIL GRANTED CTS $5,000 bail granted Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released on $5,000 bail the 24-year-old man accused of the attempted murder of another young man in September.

He ordered that Perry Kuhn Simons report to Police twice a week and not have any contact with witnesses to the baseball bat attack on Ki-Won Kinta Butterfield outside Woody's Drive Inn on September 2.

Simons, of Long Bay Lane, Sandys, has been on remand at Westgate Correctional Facility since he was arrested shortly after the incident.

FRAUD TRIAL DATE FIXED CTS Fraud trial date fixed A Devonshire woman is to face trial accused of a string of frauds against the Bermuda Commercial bank.

Shamel Miea Wolffe, 20, denies eight charges of falsifying bank documents and of trying to defraud the bank of a total of $2,250.

Wolffe, of Alexander Road, who appeared before Magistrate Archibald Warner on Wednesday will stand trial on February 19.

AWKWARD PARTING . . .

CTS Awkward parting... A man spent a night in a cell for drunk driving -- shortly before he was due to leave Bermuda.

Flemming Kristensen, 32, of Denmark, was involved in a two-vehicle accident on November 29 on Serpentine Road, Pembroke.

Officers arrived on the scene at about 10.30 p.m. and discovered that Kristensen had been driving on the wrong side of the road and hit a car.

He told officers he had consumed half a bottle of wine, and at the Police station he gave a sample of breath that gave a reading of 188 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.

Magistrate Edward King fined him $750. He also disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
