Members of the West End Primary School PTA will take part in a march this morning to protest Government's naming of the new prison.
Government want to call the prison the West End Correctional Facility.
At the end of the march, which starts at 10.00 and will take objectors from Casemates Prison to the new prison site, a petition will be presented to Health and Social Services Minister the Hon. Quinton Edness.
In a recent press statement, the PTA outlined its opposition to Government's plan.
"The West End Primary School PTA is adamantly opposed to the name the `West End Correctional Facility' that has been chosen for the new prison by the Minister of Health and Social Services and Housing, the Hon. Quinton Edness.
"It is our belief that this name is too closely associated with the name of our school.
"It is very important that every effort should be taken to avoid attaching a stigma to any person, group or institution as this action can have extremely negative effects on the community as a whole,'' the statement read.
