blitz that sealed St. David's coffin tight.

But the five-goal margin does not tell the whole story.

If there was an award for the most missed goals in a game, PHC would have won.

That is because during yesterday's performance they missed a total of 20 easy shots -- 12 of those coming in the first half alone.

Chief culprit was ex-Bermuda striker Sammy Swan, who at one point managed to scuttle three chances within five minutes.

Still, PHC, led by two-goal heroes Meshach Wade and Raynel Lightbourne and a goal each from Swan and Otis Steede sent St. David's packing.

Some brilliant goalkeeping from St. David's Sydney Minors coupled with pitiful finishing from PHC kept the first half scoreless, as the hosts spent almost the entire half defending.

The second half was only two minutes old, when PHC scored their first goal, Swan pouncing on a loose ball after Minors failed to collect a back pass.

Four minutes later St. David's equalised after Zebras skipper Mike Dill cut down Jerry Laws. Referee Peter Sousa had no hesitation in pointing to the penalty spot and Dale Fox's rocket left Ty Williams with no chance.

The goal seemed to give St. David's the boost they needed as Shane Weeks and Laws surged forward, testing the Zebras' defence, although with little success.

PHC were on the scoreboard again in the 72nd minute, after an adroit Swan pass found Lightbourne who drilled his shot past Minors.

That goal tore St. David's apart. They lost their momentum and focus and were reduced to 10 men as Reginald Pticher removed his boots and walked from the pitch.

However, PHC failed to hammer home the advantage as Wade, Ming and Swan all missed simple opportunities.

Wade redeemed himself in the 81st minute, when he rose majestically above his marker and headed Lightbourne's inswinging corner past a helpless Minors.

Substitute Otis Minors almost gave St. David's their second goal on the next play, but was denied by a diving Williams.

That was the last time St. David's entered PHC's half.

Wade stripped St. David's defender Scott Tucker on the right and his cross found Lightbourne on the far side. Lightbourne rounded Minors easily for his second goal, making it 4-1.

St. David's were unable to answer the constant pressure from PHC. Steede was next on the scoresheet though his well-taken shot deflected off Del Hollis' foot, leaving Minors stranded at the near post.

Hollis was on hand once again when Wade's left-foot shot in the 89th minute bounced off his back into the net to end the rout.
