Bermuda Day race for charity
lined up on the starting blocks to support the run.
The six groups -- under the banner of the Bermuda Health Alliance (BHA) -- are the first sponsors of the May 24 road race.
They are the Bermuda Hospitals Board, the Hospitals' Auxiliary, the Heart Foundation, the Bermuda Diabetes Association, the Friends of the Hospice and the Residents Family Council.
All runners will have the chance to help the BHA reach its goals by raising cash.
In addition to prizes for the top finishers, all pledge runners will have the chance to win prizes for their fund-raising efforts.
The BHA wants to raise a total of $5 million over the next three to five years for its member bodies. To date, it has notched up a massive total of $2.8 million in pledges and donations.
Anyone who wants to make a pledge to the BHA can do so by contacting one of the runners or calling 291-3697.
