Graham Scott Madeiros, who was accused of importing cannabis in the US in 1984 and conspiring to distribute it, skipped bail and was at large for almost 10 years.

Sources told The Royal Gazette yesterday that local Police helped US authorities track down Madeiros who was arrested by the US Coast Guard in international waters on April 23 this year.

Madeiros was found on the yacht Sirius off Jamaica.

He was taken to Columbia, South Carolina where he pleaded guilty, on September 15, to the drug charges and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Madeiros could be eligible for parole after serving 40 months.
