Leader of the United Bermuda Party Pamela Gordon had asked how many trips Ms Webb had taken, either alone, or with others, at the taxpayers' expense between July 1 and October 26.

And she also asked what the nature of the trips were and who accompanied the minister on each one.

Ms Webb was not in the House of Assembly on Friday, but the UBP was given a written response to its questions.

Ms Webb wrote that she had taken two official trips abroad during that time.

She said, in September the Director of Telecommunications had accompanied her to the Federal Communications Commission in Washington DC to discuss issues on call-back services in Bermuda.

Ms Webb said while there, they also visited White House officials to talk about US policy on E-Commerce, and the US Department of Education to discuss information technology in schools, and the British Embassy.

On October 1, she said she travelled alone to the UK for a speaking engagement at Wilton Park on E-Commerce. The event had been organised by the British Government and the Foreign Commonwealth Office.

The total cost of the Washington trip was $3,565.52, and the UK trip cost $4,344.60.
