Faria optimistic on Tuff Dogs’ title chances

Tuff Dogs coach Danny Faria is cautiously optimistic his side can continue their run of form and win their first Corona League title this season.Kevin Hurdle produced the goods for the league leaders as they overcame a two goal deficit to beat BAA 5-2 at the weekend.“Overall, although there are a few things we still need to improve on, we’re happy with our performances this season and it’s good to see us on top of the table,” said Faria. “However, we know that there’s a lot of work left to do and that we cannot afford drop anymore points.“The league continues to become more competitive every year and you have to be prepared to fight for every point.”Kevin Hurdle scored a hat-trick for Tuff Dogs as they overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat Flanagan’s Onions 5-2.Tuff Dogs were pinned back in the first half after Onion’s took a 2-0 lead through Adam Griffiths and Phil Anderson.The half-time whistle came just in time for the Dogs, who came out after the break with all guns blazing.Hurdle’s three goals three goals proved to the be the difference, while Yusef Pitt and Aaron Browne scored a goal each to complete the comeback.Second place BAA kept the pressure on Dogs with their 4-0 win over bottom club St David’s.BAA got two goals from Pete Coleman, while Neal Churchill and Martin Jones added a goal each for the comfortable winners.Defending champions Vasco got a point in their 2-2 draw with Lock N Key.Chris Anderson and Quinton Basden both scored for Key, while Rui Rocha and Stefan TellimanLobster Pot got a brace from Matthew Steede to beat St George’s 3-0.Khannai Fray also struck a goal in the win for Pot.Victor Richards grabbed a double as Robin Hood flattened Valley FC 8-0.The side also got single strikes from Lloyd Holder, Alex Belvedere, Gary Adams, Jamie Ball, Kenny Dill and Darren Reitze.North Village and West End Untied shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw.
