But overall honours, for the second successive year, went to the pairing of Maria Conroy Haydon and Colin Swan.

The defending champions, in an event in which victory is decided by the combined times of each couple, clocked an aggregate time of 46 minutes and 59 seconds -- just four seconds faster than the second-placed pair of Debbie Sullivan and Frankie Rodrigues.

Third place went to Fisher and partner Rory Gorman who combined for a time of 47.54.

Fast improving Sullivan was perhaps the surprise of the race, finishing the women's 5K course just three seconds behind winner Fisher in 18.28, and some 14 seconds ahead of third-placed Conroy Haydon.

As expected Kavin Smith, partnering his wife Karla, ran away with the men's race over five miles, averaging a pace of five minutes, 13 seconds per mile on his way to a winning time of 26.07.

Brett Forgesson followed more than a minute and half later in 27.40 which combined with his wife Anna Eatherley's time of 19.34 earned them the Married Couples title (47.14).

Second in that division in 58.18 were Charlie and Maria Duffy and third Steven and Carolyn Conway (61.51).

The Masters Division went to Jane Christie and Steven Davies in 50.48 ahead of Jeremy Ball and Peggy Couper in 51.20 and the top juniors were Theresa Whitter and Duncan Scott (47.30).
