William Dennis Moniz of Middle Road, Paget, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court on Friday to stealing $80 from Heron Bay Pizza House.

Inspector Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said Moniz was hired on September 9 as a pizza delivery man. The following day he was given a float of $30 and made two deliveries.

But he was reported to the Police when he failed to return to work and repeated attempts to contact him failed, Insp. Duffy said.

Moniz told the officers he went home after he was involved in an accident and that he intended to return the money.

The money was later returned by his fiancee.

"I'm sorry that it happened. It was not intentional,'' Moniz told the court after he was fined.
