St. David's 304-8 St. David's followed up their Eastern Counties triumph a day earlier at Sea Breeze Oval with another at the same venue yesterday, squeezing past Bailey's Bay in a free-scoring Premier League affair.

In the end it took a boundary four from number nine bat Landro Minors off the third from last ball of the match to decide matters.

But it was skipper Clay Smith who set the stage for the triumph, his free-wheeling 128 offsetting an earlier century from Bay opener Ricky Hill.

Smith, who came in at number three with an asking rate of more than seven runs an over following the dismissal of Glenn Blakeney (42), took some time to get his timing down, but once set proceeded to unload all manner of strokes on an easy pitch against an attack lacking variety.

Smith carved Bay's bowlers up for 17 fours and four sixes in a true captain's innings, putting on 83 with Phillip Pitcher (43), then partnering young O.J.Pitcher (26) in a 81-run third wicket stand.

Once Pitcher went Smith was joined by the brash Lionel Cann, and the pair added a further 57 before Cann went for 31.

Things looked rosy for Bay at that stage and got even better as Chris Foggo and Del Hollis both went without scoring and Smith finally succumbed to medium pacer Corey Hill with the total 297.

Yet the tail wagged just enough as Minors stepped up front, sending a Charlie Marshall delivery to the boundary for the win.

Camouflaged in the Islanders' victory was Corey Hill's five wicket haul and a fine 127 from brother Ricky that anchored Bay's innings. The 41-year-old n stroked 14 fours and four sixes.

Others among the runs included Cal Dill (31), Marshall (29) and Clarkie Trott (28).

Delyone Borden was the top bowler for St. David's with four for 51 from 10 overs.

Social Club 55 St.George's 59-0 Whipping boys Social Club suffered more misery yesterday, thrashed by 10 wickets in a match that lasted barely more than a couple of hours.

Herbie Bascome snatched four for 13 in just 4.1 overs while Ryan Steede (2-7) and Travis Smith (2-15) also picked up cheap wickets as Social Club were bundled out for 55 in only 18 overs.

St. George's openers Detroy Smith (17) and Dean Minors (28) quickly reached the target, aided by 14 extras.
