Diver had to recompress
quick reactions helped to prevent a diving accident from turning tragic.
Agriculture and Fisheries director Mr. John Barnes said Ms Tammy Warren, a Fisheries technician and biologist, was diving off St. George's on Friday morning when her weight belt came undone.
Senior Fisheries officer Dr. Brian Luckhurst was also on the dive. They were performing a routine dive when the mishap occurred.
"Her weight belt came off, she experienced positive buoyancy and came up quickly. Another Fisheries officer gave her first aid and oxygen and called Harbour Radio.'' Ms Warren was then transported to Ordnance Island, where they were met by an ambulance.
At King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, she was placed in a recompression chamber. She was discharged from hospital the same day.
