Welcome mat rolled out for three lawyers

Helen Adderley, Brian Patterson, and Gordan Hill will all focus on corporate law.
Briton Helen Adderley, who was introduced to the court by lawyer John Cooper, received her law degree from De Montford in the United Kingdom in 1989.
After completing two years of articles, she was admitted into the Supreme Court of England and Wales in October 1992.
In 1993, the 28-year-old married Bermudian Cameron Adderley who is also a lawyer.
The pair returned to Bermuda in 1995, and Mrs. Adderley began work for the law firm Hallett, Whitney and Patton where she will be practising corporate law.
Mrs. Adderley thanked her husband, his family, and Bermudian friends for their support.
She also acknowledged her parents who were not able to attend the ceremony.
Bermudian Brian Patterson joined the legal community after a brief career in the hospitality industry.
Mr. Patterson, 34, who was introduced to the court by lawyer John Campbell, graduated from Saltus in 1980.
In 1986, he graduated from Bermuda College with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.
He then went on to achieve a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of New Haven in Connecticut.
After working in the field in both Phoenix, Arizona and Vancouver, Canada, Mr.
Patterson decided to go back to school to study law.
With the help of a Appleby, Spurling & Kempe legal scholarship, Mr. Patterson attended the University of British Columbia where he obtained his law degree.
He completed his articles for Stikeman, Elliott and was accepted to the Supreme Court of British Columbia in August 1996.
Mr. Patterson has since been at Appleby, Spurling & Kempe.
He thanked his family, his girlfriend, and his mentor Warren Cabral for their continued support.
Canadian Gordan Hill, 52, brings 25 years of experience to the Bermuda Bar.
He came to Bermuda two-and-half-years ago when he joined Appleby, Spurling & Kempe.
He received his law degree from the University of Toronto in 1969 and was called to the Supreme Court of Ontario in 1971.
From 1971 to 1994, Mr. Hill worked for various law firms. And in 1984 he was called to Her Majesty's Council.
He will be working at Richard, Francis, and Francis.
