Police investigate visitors' mystery tour

incident in which a car, containing three visiting females, was stolen and taken on a "mystery tour'.

Police spokesperson P.c. Gary Venning said the "unusual'' incident occurred around 4.25 a.m. Saturday. A 26-year-old Pembroke man was giving an 18-year-old woman and two 15-year-old girls a ride back to their hotel when he stopped at the Esso City Service Station on Richmond Road, in Hamilton.

The man parked his blue Mazda Station Wagon, leaving the three women in the car while he went inside. While the man was paying for his goods, four men allegedly got into the car, prevented the passengers from leaving, and drove off.

The visitors were driven to John Smiths Bay in Smith's Parish where the trip came to an abrupt end when the car collided with a tree.

The offenders then ran off and the victims, who were not physically injured in the accident, were able to flee. The car sustained frontal damage in the collision.

P.c. Venning said two men, aged 17 and 21, both from Smith's Parish were arrested in connection with the incident.

Police inquiries are continuing and anyone with information on the matter should contact St. George's CID at 297-1122.
