Tournament organisers said that Maybury, one of the Island's top players, had informed them on Saturday that he had the flu, so the big match had been postponed until yesterday.

Way will now meet second seed Jerome Bradshaw in the semifinals after Bradshaw defeated Terry Smith 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.

Meanwhile, top seed Michael Way breezed past Keith Beattie 6-0, 6-1 in surprisingly easy fashion. He will now face the winner of today's Wilfred Gonsalves and Mark Ward match.

In the weekend's biggest surprise, unseeded John Sharpe defeated eighth seed Michael Levon 6-0, 6-2 while Howard Cross continued his good showing in the tournament by defeating Frank Tersigni 6-1, 6-4.

The other surprise occured when Earl Leader came away with a comfortable 6-0, 6-2 win over Sandy Brown. Play continues at the Tennis Stadium all this week.
