Somerset Eagles showed neighbours, Somerset Trojans, how to beat Wolves when they handed the latter a 2-1 defeat at White Hill Field yesterday.
But the Trojans won't be complaining as that result, combined with their own 2-1 win over Paget, enabled the former First Division champions to go top of the Daihatsu Second Division standings.
Shawn Dill, nephew of Trojans coach Randy Horton, scored both Eagles goals, the first in the first minute even before Wolves had got a touch of the ball.
Then midway through the half Dill scored again from the penalty spot after he had been fouled. It was Eagles' first win of the season.
Trojans, who were involved in a 2-2 draw with Wolves in midweek when three Wolves players and two from Somerset were ejected, scraped by Paget to make it seven out of a maximum nine points.
Veterans Everett Wellman and Kevin Bailey scored in the 47th and 57th minutes after a scoreless first half before substitute Shane Grant replied for Paget.
Horton was ejected from the subs' bench for foul language.
BAA, another team hoping for promotion, had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Hamilton Parish at Wellington Oval. Ernest Lathan gave Parish the lead with a first minute penalty and Leroy Robinson made it 2-0 three minutes later. But BAA battled back to earn a point with Meshach Wade scoring in the 23rd minute and Steve Gair making it 2-2 in the 77th.
Social Club got their first win when they edged by Prospect 2-1, but not before going behind in the fifth minute when Lawrence Holder opened the scoring. Anthony Hunt (38th minute) and a Coolridge Bell penalty in the 68th completed Social Club's come-from-behind triumph.
