At 6 p.m. last night, Floyd, a Category Three storm, was at latitude 23.4 degrees north and longitude 68.2 degrees west or 568 nautical miles south southwest of Bermuda. Floyd is travelling west at 12 knots.
Gert, with 55 knot winds gusting to 65 knots is travelling due west at 18 knots. It may make landfall by the weekend, possibly in the Caribbean.
Last night Gert was 2,040 nautical miles east southeast of Bermuda or at latitude 14.6 degrees north and longitude 34.7 degrees west. Gert's closest point of approach is projected to be 1,188 nautical miles southeast of us on Wednesday.
