Prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said narcotics officers were on patrol on July 25 at 2 p.m. on Court Street when they spotted Harry Corbin, 41, of Dundonald Street, sitting on a motorcycle near The Spinning Wheel Nightclub.

The officer informed Corbin he would be searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Sgt. Taylor said during the search one officer noticed a brown paper twist on the ground near the motorcycle.

The officer picked the twist up, opened it, and found a rock-like substance.

Corbin denied the twist was his when asked what it was.

He was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station. The rock-like substance was analysed and found to be 0.096 grams of crack.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis ordered Corbin to pay a $300 fine for the offence.
