Reconstruction underway in Smith's main store will include the erection of an Astwood-Dickinson "shop within a shop'' where fine jewellery and watches will be sold.

Astwood-Dickinson president, Tommy Dickinson, said, "The concept was initiated by both companies. We've been talking for some time. It just made good sense.

"The merchandising philosophy in there will of course be slightly different from our other stores. We felt it made sense for us to be doing this. It's a new marketing opportunity for us. We reach a slightly different market than we normally reach.''
