The Fire Service tender was travelling along North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish, when it was in collision with the rear of a Subaru J-10 hatchback travelling in the same direction.

The tender then crossed the centre line and collided with a Volkswagen Jetta travelling the opposite direction.

The accident happened around 6 p.m. on Saturday night near the entrance to Coney Island.

Both cars involved in the accident were badly damaged, but the drivers are understood to have escaped injury.

A Police probe into the accident is continuing and anyone who saw the smash should contact PC Ken Savoury on 295-0011.
