The management development seminars are being done in conjunction with Canadian training group Waterloo Management Education Centre (WATMEC).

Company president Dale Wilcox said the eight management courses focus on skills building. The courses will help those taking part upgrade their communication and leadership skills.

The seminars are designed for companies that don't have the numbers to do their own in house training.

Separate seminars deal with delegating responsibilities, marketing strategies, interviewing skills, dealing with innovation and change, the art of negotiation, performance management, project supervision, leadership, and customer service.

Bermuda Employers' Council chairman Gerald Simons said the organisation realised that its regular offerings of courses did not cater to company executives.

"The way to change companies is to work from the top down,'' he said.

The organisation is also working to make the courses more consistent, with each one developing skills that were discussed in previous ones, Ms Wilcox said.

"The courses are being done from the management perspective,'' she said.

"It's interactive training and skills building with a sharing of ideas and experience. It will help them enhance skills that weren't picked up in an organised fashion as they came up the corporate ladder.'' The first management seminars -- marketing strategies and interviewing skills -- begin on March 18. The dates for other courses can be found in The Royal Gazette Business calendar.
