Not all veterans unhappy with crowd's exuberance
Remembrance Day parade came under scrutiny in the Motion to Adjourn on Friday night.
Environment Minister Arthur Hodgson said a number of veterans had asked him to express their views about the crowd's exuberant behaviour at the November 11 parade.
He said that a lot of the veterans shared the spectators' excitement.
A flurry of controversy erupted after spectators failed to contain their glee over the November 9 PLP election victory at the normally solemn November 11 event.
However, Mr. Hodgson said that those veterans who were upset by the crowd's behaviour had the right to have and voice their opinion.
"But there were other veterans who matched the mood of the people,''he added.
PLP MP Derrick Burgess echoed Mr. Hodgson's claim that not all veterans were upset by the November 11 display of elation.
Mr. Burgess said he attended the parade and maintained that he did not see anything wrong with the way the crowd behaved. "Our people today are totally free and showed it,'' he said.
