St. George's Club to get bigger and better says new owner

British developer Mr. Alistair Woolf, who bought the St. George's Club in December, has announced multi-million renovation and expansion plans for the timeshare operation.

Mr. Woolf, who moved to Bermuda to oversee the operation and development of the business, said it was in support of the master plan being drawn up for the town of St. George's.

He said, "I am delighted to see the town taking steps to preserve its past and plan for the future. Frankly, the excellent development of Dockyard by Wedco is a growing success story and this step by the Corporation of St.

George's should help to restore tourism as a growing industry for the east end of the Island as well.'' He said that the club operations were being improved and a new marketing campaign was being launched. In addition, a travel club has been formed which is expected to encourage more frequent visits. The club attracts over 10,000 members and visitors to St. George's annually.
