For a new contender has been granted a licence to operate, alongside existing firms Bee Line and Bermuda Hosts.

The new firm is understood to be operated by Stephen Martin, a shareholder in Bermuda Hosts and owner of Bermuda Small Properties Ltd.

Transport Minister Erwin Adderley confirmed he had been approached by existing operators.

He said: "They have a problem with someone who has been issued a licence to operate a limousine.

"They have raised issues and I have told them I will look into it.'' Mr. Adderley declined to discuss details of the meeting -- but it is understood current operators fear a decline in business from the extra seat provision on the airport run.

Mr. Adderley said the licence was issued by the board responsible for public service vehicles.
