Organisers from the Miss Bermuda Pageant and the Miss Teen Bermuda Pageant have joined forces to host a new contest.

Wentworth Christopher, Andrea Daniels, and Zeth B. Landy of Superteam Productions last week announced the Miss Bermuda Pageant would take place on March 12 at City Hall.

Mr. Christopher, who has been involved in the Miss Bermuda Pageant since 1965, said the three were combining their resources to put on a unique show.

"It came about because people were asking me when another Miss Bermuda would be held,'' Mr. Christopher explained. "And girls were asking them (Ms Daniels and Mr. Landy) if they could sign up.'' But Ms Daniels and Mr. Landy emphasised that Miss Teen Bermuda and Miss Bermuda will continue to operate as separate entities.

They added that the winner of the Miss Teen Bermuda pageant will represent Bermuda in the Miss Universe Pageant in 1997. The venue has not yet been confirmed.

"It will have all the things it had before,'' Mr. Christopher said about the revived Miss Bermuda Pageant. "But we also want to expand it and make it more exciting than before.'' However, he said details about the pageant were still in the planning stages.
