Forty-three-year-old John O'Connor, of Sofar Lane, St. George's, admitted the assault in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

The incident happened on February 23 at Kids Kollege on Union Street. O'Connor apparently got in an argument with his estranged wife about the health of their two-year-old son.

According to Police, O'Connor became angry during the confrontation and lashed out -- slapping his wife on the right side of her face.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said the assault took place in full view of the class. O'Connor had to be escorted off the premises.

A second $300 fine was imposed on O'Connor for a separate incident where he violated a restraining order by attending the home of his estranged wife.

O'Connor admitted going to the home, but said he wanted to take his children to fly kites.
