yesterday denied Magistrate Court charges of fraud and false pretences.

Glasford denied that on November 21, 1991 and February 4, 1993, intending to defraud, he obtained a total of three cheques from the company by pretending they were needed for salary payments he was authorised to receive.

He also pleaded not guilty to making two false cheques on November 22, uttering them and procuring a Bank of Butterfield employee to deliver a total of $126.99. He further denies making a false cheque on February 5, uttering it and procuring a Bank of Bermuda employee to deliver $141.37.

The 43-year-old resident of Rocklands Road, Warwick is due to be tried on September 9. He is on $500 bail.

TWO CONTAINERS TO BE SENT TO BOSNIA FNR Two containers to be sent to Bosnia Kind-hearted Bermudians have delighted organisers of the "Container for Bosnia'' campaign by giving them more work.

And now they have revealed that not one, but two containers will be sent from the Island to help the strife-torn nation.

Organiser Ms Lucy Willitts, at Lindo's, said that the first container full of toys, food and drink and toiletries will be sent out on Monday, a day after the other container arrives.

She said: "I think it is absolutely fabulous. Even young children have been donating because they have all heard about Bosnia and they have heard about the container.'' East End Primary School Children have each donated a cuddly toy and a tin of food, two classes from the Whitney Institute brought cases of foodstuffs and toiletries, teachers from Bermuda High School collected over $200 and bought cases of food, Butterfield and Co. donated 240 cases of juice and the Bermuda Paint Company moved all the cases with a forklift.

HOTEL BING SUED FOR OVER $18,000 CTS Hotel bing sued for over $18,000 Two top politicians look set to clash outside of the House of the Assembly over an unpaid bill for thousands.

National Liberal Party leader Mr. Gilbert Darrell's restaurant equipment company is suing the Somerset Bridge Hotel over a debt of $18,347.77.

The hotel, which is experiencing severe financial problems, is owned by Deputy Opposition Leader Mr. Walter Roberts.

The Somerset Bridge was placed in receivership by the Bank of Bermuda in January of this year.

A buyer has been sought for the 24-room establishment, while it is under the control of the receivers, accounting firm Kempe & Whittle.

Mr. Darrell said: "We run a store dealing in restaurant equipment. The hotel owes us more than $18,000 and we have sued to protect our business. It is as simple as that.'' The hotel was believed to be preparing to open for business some time this week but could still not be contacted by phone. The Royal Gazette were also unable to contact Mr. Roberts.

The writ was filed in the Supreme Court this week.

Smith, Barnard and Diel are dealing with the case.

POLICE SEEKING ACCIDENT WITNESSES AC Police are appealing for help from any witnesses to a Sunday road accident in which two pedestrians were struck by a car.

The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on South Road east of the Southampton Princess Hotel.

A 45-year-old US woman remains in hospital in stable condition. She has internal injuries and a broken collar bone.

Her 53-year-old friend suffered cuts and abrasions and was later released from hospital.

Police said the two women were walking along the south side grass verge when they were struck by a white Ford Laser travelling west.

It is believed the car was in the process of overtaking a line of cars. Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said: "Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or seen the white Ford Laser prior to the accident is asked to contact P.c.
