Mr. Farmer attended a special service to celebrate the US Thanksgiving Day holiday at St. Theresa's Cathedral in Hamilton.

US residents in Bermuda joined top Island figures, including Governor Thorold Masefield and Premier Pamela Gordon, and members of the public for the standing-room only service.

Mr. Farmer -- who officially retires from his post and leaves the Island on Monday -- read President Bill Clinton's traditional Thanksgiving message.

And he took the opportunity to thank Bermuda "for being such a wonderful host''.
