The robbery at Vanna Lee's Cafe on North Shore Road occurred at about 6.30 p.m.

Police say the man was wearing a "hooded-type'' jacket, but it is not known whether his face was covered.

"It is believed a female employee was pushed to the ground, and the man stole money from the till,'' said Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning.

He added it is thought another employee was nearby when the incident occurred.

The robber ran out of the building, and headed west along North Shore Road.
