I would like to use your newspaper as a vehicle to thank one very special young boy. On Wednesday, October 18, 2000, my 21-month-old daughter and dog wandered off our property, not to be found.

After 20 frantic minutes of searching our neighbourhood by car and by foot, asking everyone I saw if they had seen a little girl with a red dog, someone had.

A group of men and one young boy emerged from a yard on a neighbouring road with my daughter. She had wandered out of our neighbourhood, down a main road and into the next neighbourhood. This young boy had been on his way home from school and met my daughter wandering barefoot and dressed like a princess.

This young boy brought my daughter to a neighbour's house where they began to search for the child's home. I was so happy to see my daughter, that I did not thank this young boy properly or get his name. I would like to offer my hero a public thank you for taking the time to help someone else.
