St. David's gas station rejected
the Development Applications Board.
Mr. Peter Pitcher wanted approval for his marine gas station to be used by land vehicles.
But he came under fire from Shell Oil chief Mr. Bob Stewart who accused him of working with the Planning Department in an attempt to break the moratorium on gas stations in the Island.
Mr. Stewart said he was also worried because the neighbouring liquor store is also owned by Mr. Pitcher.
Planners have denied a conspiracy and said they were simply re-evaluating the list of stations.
But they turned down the application on Wednesday and published a revised list of gas stations.
Mr. Pitcher said: "I have heard nothing officially but if it has been turned down I will appeal.'' Mr. Steward also said that he had not heard anything official but said he would be pleased if the application had been refused.
