Government yesterday unveiled plans for a big conference next year on violence.
The January 30-February 3 conference will feature speeches by overseas experts on violence.
Health and Social Services Minister the Hon. Quinton Edness said he was very excited by the venture.
The focus would be on violence throughout the community, including in the home.
Most of the organisation, said Mr. Edness, was being carried out by Ms Luelle Todd, his director of child and family services.
She had worked with other groups, including the Physical Abuse Centre, the Women's Resource Centre, the Women's Advisory Council, and the Coalition for the Protection of Children.
"They have put together some tremendous proposals,'' said Mr. Edness, adding it was the first conference of its type in Bermuda.
Mr. Edness said one of the speakers would be a top American expert on violence, adding he also hoped to bring in people from the Caribbean.
