announced confirmation of a friendly fixture against Canada next month.

The match will be played on Tuesday, January 11, most likely at the National Stadium.

And it will give national coach Robert Calderon the opportunity to start fine-tuning his squad with the first round Caribbean Zone Two World Cup qualifier against the British Virgin Islands in mind.

"It's great for our national team to get this game,'' said Best. "We've been trying to get a game with Canada for some time.

"A lot of their players play in Europe, so it will be a real test for us. It will be good for us to play a quality team again, like when we played Denmark this year.'' And with many of the Island's top players back home enjoying a break from their studies at US colleges, Best and Calderon will be taking the opportunity to train a 25-man senior national squad over the holiday period.

The first squad get-together will be at 10.00 a.m. on Monday, December 27, at Warwick Academy, where they will play a friendly match against Dandy Town, one of the Premier Division teams free from involvement in the Dudley Eve Trophy.

Returning to the squad will be David Bascome, who last played for his country in last year's Caribbean Cup qualifying tournament held in the Cayman Islands.

The midfielder, who plays for Harrisburg Heat alongside national team-mate Meshach Wade in the National Professional Soccer League in the United States, is apparently keen to win back his place in the side.

Wade is also named in the squad as is fellow US-based professional, goalkeeper Dwayne (Streaker) Adams.

Thomas Carter and Calvin Ball jnr., the two young players `discovered' on the under-23s' tour of Florida last week, who left Bermuda for the US at an early age, are also included.

Squad: Dwayne Adams, Troy Hall, Nigel Burgess, Shannon Burgess, Clifford Roberts, Karl Roberts, Andrew Rahman, Randy Spence, Kofi Dill, Stanton Lewis, Blenn Bean, Tokia Russell, Paul Cann, Devarr Boyles, Kuma Smith, Damon Ming, Otis Steede, Kenny Mills, Meshach Wade, Jameiko Jennings, Joey Rego, John Barry Nusum, David Bascome, Thomas Carter, Calvin Ball jnr.
