Tycom funds undersea show at Smithsonian
development and application, is providing practical and financial help to a major new Smithsonian Libraries exhibition in Washington DC.
The exhibition is entitled "The Underwater Web: Cabling the Seas'' and celebrates 150 years of undersea communications. Tycom is providing historical information, undersea equipment and funding.
Neil Garvey, president and chief executive officer of TyCom, said: "We are honoured to play a major role in developing and funding this exhibit. There have been tremendous advances made in telecommunications since the first underwater cables were laid, and it is exciting to see the chronology of developments so well presented.
"As a pioneer and a leader in our industry we are pleased to support the Smithsonian in putting together this exhibit.'' The exhibition opens March today and will run for a year at the Smithsonian Libraries Gallery in the National Mueum of American History in Washington.
