Traffic advisories for Bermuda Day holiday
Day holiday to ensure that the day's big events run smoothly.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the routes used for the annual Marathon Derby Road Race and Heritage Cycle Race.
Some roads, which are listed below, will be closed off completely at various times during Heritage Day.
Buses will run on a normal schedule until 1 p.m. on Monday, after which diversions will be made through the City of Hamilton to accommodate the Heritage Parade.
The Marathon Derby will begin at 9.30 a.m. at the junction of Somerset and Cambridge Roads in Sandys Parish.
Entrants will run east on Somerset Road, across Somerset Bridge and follow Middle Road into Warwick.
They will then turn on to Burnt House Hill, continue along Harbour Road and enter the City of Hamilton via The Lane and Crow Lane.
Proceeding along Front Street and up Queen Street, the runners will turn east on Church Street then north on Cedar Avenue.
The final leg of the 21.6 kilometre race will take participants along Marsh Folly Road and Dutton Avenue into Bernard Park.
The top finishers are expect to reach the park around 10.50 a.m.
Police would like to remind the public that pedal cyclists are not permitted to accompany runners during the race.
The 19.6 kilometre Heritage Cycle Race is slated to begin half an hour before the start of the Marathon Derby outside Lopes Liquor Mart near Gilbert Lane in Sandys Parish.
Cyclists will follow the same route as the road race until they reach the junction of Church Street and Cedar Avenue, where they will turn off and race north to their finish line at the junction of Cedar Avenue and Angle Street.
The Heritage Parade will start from the Front Street and Par-La-Ville Road junction at 2 p.m.
Floats, bands and majorettes will turn up Court Street and head west on Church Street before making their way out of Hamilton via Cedar Avenue.
The parade will continue along Marsh Folly Road and Dutton Avenue into Bernard Park.
Parents and supporters accompanying the parade must be dressed in the same colours as the float or entry, and must not exceed six in number.
Unauthorised persons will be asked to leave the parade.
The following roads will be closed to all traffic on Monday, except emergency vehicles: Burnt House Hill and Harbour Road (between Middle Road, Warwick and Stowe Hill) from 9 a.m. until 11.30 a.m.
Dutton Avenue (between Marsh Folly Road and North Street) from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Palmetto Road (from Bishop Spencer Road to Dutton Avenue -- westbound only) from 10.30 a.m. until 6.30 p.m.
Bulls Head Car Park from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Woodlands Road (from Par-La-Ville Road to St. Johns Road) from 11 a.m. There will also be no parking along the following roads throughout the day: Bermudiana Road (from Front to Church Street along the eastern side only); Par-La-Ville Road (from Front Street to Serpentine Road); Church Street (from Queen to King Street); Front Street (from Par-La-Ville Road to Court Street); Court Street (from Church to Front Street); King Street (from Dundonald to Front Street); Queen Street (from Front to Church Street); Langton Hill (from St. John's to North Shore Road); and Cedar Avenue (from Victoria to Angle Street).
