Lunchtime Series - lecture and powerpoint presentation. 12.30 - 1.30 p.m. Free. Canadian Architect Arthur Erikson by Joseph Galea, Senior Architect, Works & Engineering. Arthur Erickson is the pre-eminent 20th century Canadian architect who continues to produce award winning architecture. In conferring the AIA Gold to him in 1986 the AIA described him as a `Global Architect', passionate advocate of cultural awareness, and fervent explorer of human and natural environments, whose buildings, though remarkably diverse, share deep respect for context, incomparable freshness and grace, and the dramatic use of space and light'. The presentation by Joseph Galea, who worked with Erickson in his Toronto office in the mid-eighties, gives an overview of Erickson's oeuvre and outlines the main characteristics that define his works.

Bermuda National Gallery Lunchtime Series, 12.30 - 1.30 p.m. Video presentation: The Art of the Dogon. The Dogon peoples possess one of the richest art traditions in West Africa. Residing in an imposing landscape of steep cliffs and arid plains, the Dogon peoples of Mali have for centuries created powerful sculpture to use in various rituals and in their daily life. One of the great admirers and collectors of Dogon art is Lester Wunderman. This half-hour film is based on his extensive collection at the Metropolitan Museum, NY and his archival footage which was shot on location in Mali. This film attempts to capture the beauty and power of Dogon art while placing it in context within Dogon beliefs and culture. Narrated by Sue Cott, produced and directed by John Goberman and Marc Bauman. 24 minutes. Free.
