Row over Marriott continues
again in Magistrates' Court, yesterday.
Marriott's Castle Harbour was applying for an extension, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
of the beach pavilion's licence.
But residents of Tucker's Town and the Mid Ocean Club have complained about the extension. In fact the Mid Ocean Club has objected to the renewal of the licence.
It revives memories of the previous battle Marriott's had to get a licence for the beach pavilion part of its operation.
In May 1990, objectors walked out of court only for Senior Magistrate the Wor.
Will Francis to grant the pavilion's licence.
Yesterday, Magistrate the Wor. John Judge gave the hotel a liquor licence but has deferred any decision on the beach pavilion until a hearing on Tuesday, March 16.
Earlier an application for a liquor licence at the Moonglow, in St. George's, was adjourned by Mr. Judge following Police objections.
Representing the club, the Hon. Ann Cartwright DeCouto referred to Police objections to a number of licence applications in Hamilton.
She said: "There seems to be a blitz on clubs by the Police. I wonder if the Police would like to meet with the operators of this establishment.'' It was adjourned until Monday, March 22.
