Liquor licenses granted
Class `A' liquor licenses were approved by the Liquor Licensing Authority yesterday.
The approval came one day after all Class `A' applicants in the central district of the Island gained permits.
One of several categories of liquor licenses, Class `A' permits generally pertain to such liquor sellers as liquor stores, supermarkets and neighbourhood convenience marts.
All other classes -- which generally apply to such establishments as hotels, restaurants, private clubs and cruise boats -- remained ungranted yesterday because they had not been provided with the proper sanitary or safety certificates by the appropriate Government agencies.
"This happens every year,'' an exasperated member of the Authority's four-man panel said during one of its sessions in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
"Government is never on line.'' The panel, which hands out the licenses annually, will focus on the eastern section of the Island today.
