Cup Match target for Tourism
the traditional Cup Match holiday.
And to kick-start the campaign, Bermuda Tourism, in conjunction with a top New York radio station, are giving away ten free holidays to the Island.
Tourism officials are pinning their hopes on African-American tourists being lured to Bermuda to celebrate Emancipation from slavery on July 29, with a whole host of attractions.
And they have revealed that New York's WRKS Kiss FM will be taking part in the programme -- culminating in a live broadcast from Bermuda.
Tourism Minister David Allen is hoping the promotion, which is being conducted in the US by agency VCG2, will encourage a whole new type of visitor.
"African-American travellers out-rank all other Americans in visiting cultural and historic events, festivals and destinations,'' he said.
Research has shown they spend more than their white counterparts earning similar amounts.
As a promotion-partner, WRKS Kiss FM and host Isaac Hayes will be featuring a number of Bermuda items in the days leading up to Cup Match.
