Show to help student attend Juilliard

be held on the lawn of the Westmeath Senior Citizens' residence on Sunday, with the aim of raising funds to help a young student attend the Juilliard School of Music in New York.

It is the fourth Julliard School Fund-raising event with proceeds from the fashion show enabling a young Bermudian to attend one of the top art schools in the United States. It is the school that Mrs. Bentley attended as a young girl many years ago, becoming a classical pianist and organist.

At 96 the still active Mrs. Bentley is now a resident at Westmeath and will perform a special selection as part of the musical entertainment which will also include the Seventh-day Adventist Choir and a violin presentation.

Mrs. Bentley lived in the US for many years upon graduation but since her return to Bermuda has held three fund-raising events designed to help a student attend the top school.

The event will start at 3.00 p.m. and admission is $15 and $5 for children.

Staff at Westmeath will be modelling and there will also be guest star models.

"We're looking for the support of the community,'' says Althea Overbey, who is helping to organise the fashion show. "Staff will be performing and professional models have volunteered their time.

"The staff at Westmeath has been extremely supportive. We've recruited the staff to be a part of the fashion show.'' No alternate date has been set in the case of inclement weather.
