`Pizza TV' row cools down

down yesterday.

Accusations flew after a phone caller to the Sports Voice programme asked: "Is that Four Star Pizza?'' ZBM sports anchorman Mike Sharpe, had expected the public to comment on the state of the Bermuda National Football Team, but managed to keep a straight face during the cheeky call.

But after the screening, calls were made to rival station VSB, when a ZBM journalist Ms Ceola Wilson believed she recognised the voice.

VSB owner, Mr. Ken De Fontes has now panned the rumours of any deep plan to ruin the new phone-in part of the evening news programme.

Mr. De Fontes said: "On the night after it had happened we received calls from Ceola Wilson saying `hello, hello, hello' and asking if it was Four Star Pizza. She believed it was VSB, who had made the call.

"We really did not know anything about it and our technician, Al Seymour, confirmed this to me.'' Mr. De Fontes then went to the trouble of getting a readout of all phone calls made from VSB that night, from Telco.

He said: "I received the list of calls and we had Mike Sharpe in here to see this. He was satisfied that we had not made the call.

"I believe it was a serious allegation but looking back I can see the funny side of this.''
