Education Minister Milton Scott recently supported the former Government's decision to pay the tuition of Berkeley Institute and CedarBridge Academy students who maintain a 95 percent attendance record and at least a "B'' average.

High school officials while welcoming Sen. Scott's decision explained that final grades and attendance will be calculated later this month, so just how many students qualify is not yet known.

Despite this, parents are said to be elated with the Minister's change of heart on the matter.

CedarBridge's PTA president Patricia Basden greeted the news with optimism.

"The parents are excited with the Minister's decision,'' she said. "It has given them and their children encouragement.'' The scholarships were only made definite for this year, and Mrs. Basden called on the Minister to extend the reward.

"We have a responsibility to see that are children are educated well,'' she said.
