In June, 24 members of the BHS Senior Fifth produced excellent results in GCSE and International GCSE examinations in 16 different subjects.

The girls wrote 205 examinations which are marked in England and are administered subject-by-subject, simultaneously worldwide under a strict timetable.

Among the 205, the girls earned 64 A's (31.2 percent), 45 B's (22 percent) and 54 C's (26.3 percent).

Twenty of the 24 girls (83.3 percent) achieved five or more results of Grade C or above. Four received all A's and B's in their nine examinations and seven others received no grade below C.

Public relations officer, Mrs. Judy Masters said: "Particularly noteworthy was the grade distribution among academic subjects, showing that in eight out of the 16 subjects 90 percent of all grades were A, B or C.

"The 1993 results on these external examinations continue the strong tradition of academic excellence established and maintained by BHS for the past 99 years.''
