New Christmas has major task ahead
the Bermuda International Business Association as expected next week.
Mr. Zuill is due to be formally voted into office at BIBA's annual general meeting next Wednesday.
Mr. Zuill, who is senior vice president and general manager, private banking at the Bank of Bermuda, will have to tackle what his predecessor, Mr. Dick Butterfield describes as "an enormous amount in the works.'' "We are just getting to the point where the results of the task forces are becoming more apparent,'' said Mr. Butterfield.
Mr. Zuill said he perceives that the association, which he said evolved slowly until the last two years, now has the Government's full cooperation and recognition.
"The Government would be well advised to use BIBA,'' he said. "My role will be to continue the process and implement recommendations, and also come up with new ideas and ways to create new services,'' he said.
Mr. Zuill's experience abroad has equipped him for his new role. After joining the Bank of Bermuda in 1962, he was sent on secondment to the Midland Banking Group in London.
In 1968, he was appointed assistant manager in the overseas department in 1968 and deputy manager international in 1972.
The next year, he moved to the Channel Islands to oversee the establishment of The Bank of Bermuda (Guernsey) and from 1974 to 1977, lived in Hong Kong, acting as Managing Director of Bermuda Trust (Far East) Limited and Bermuda Finance (Far East) Limited.
Mr. Cummings Zuill.
