Mallory's hat trick paves way for Vasco

With striker Ricky Mallory spearheading their attack by scoring a hat trick, Vasco coasted to a one-sided victory over St. David's in this Friendship Trophy game at BAA last night.

St. David's suffered a severe setback during the interval when goal-keeper Curtis Jackson was dismissed for cursing referee Lawrence DeShields and hopes of them recovering from being down 3-0 completely vanished.

Reginald Pitcher, deputised for the entire second half, could do little to prevent Vasco from adding four more goals.

Vasco, who dominated play from the outset, got first-half goals from Mallory, Voorhees Astwood and Derek Thomas. The depleted St. David's team was restricted to just one shot on goal and this came after 44 minutes when Maxwell Dill sent a hard 16-yarder at goal-keeper Keenan Tucker.

Vasco quickly underlined their supremacy when play re-started and within two minutes took a commanding 5-0 lead on two more goals by Mallory.

Irving Burgess came into the scoring act for Vasco later with goals in the 82nd and 85th minutes.
