An Island twist on a Christmas classic
easy steps Step 1: You will need an assortment of peppermint candy, candy canes, a Bermuda Police doll, glue gun, scissors and very stiff cardboard/foam core.
Cut out six, five-sided shapes out of the cardboard. Two of the shapes should be the same size, while the other four should descend in size according to large you want the birdcage.
Step 2: To make the base, cut five rectangles from the cardboard, making sure they are the same as the width of the large five-sided shapes. Glue the rectangles to one of the large five-sided shapes. To create the roof: take the one of the large five-sided shapes and glue long, narrow candies along the edge. Repeat for each smaller five-sided shapes, then glue the shapes onto each other -- the smallest on top.
Step 3: Glue candies to base of the birdcage then glue the bobby to the top of it. Cut the hooks off large candy canes and glue them to the five corners of the base.
Step 4: Once the glue holding the candy canes has set, glue the roof of the birdcage onto of the candy canes. Wrap a strip of red licorice around the middle of candy canes to form railing. Add more candy if you like!
