In search of relatives
of the New York State Assembly Mr. Arthur Eve has in mind. He is also in search of some of his relatives.
Mr. Eve, 62, of Buffalo, who is the longest serving member in the Assembly, was recently told by family members in Florida that he most likely had relatives in Bermuda as there were Eves located here.
Therefore, he and his wife, his wife's sister and another couple decided to visit the Island hoping to make some Bermuda ties.
As soon as he arrived on the Island he began going down the short list of Eves in the phone book and contacted them. "Many years ago a relative of mine named Horatio A. Eve came to Bermuda from the Turks and Caicos Islands bringing with him his son Alvin Eve. A number of his offspring are here. His father Nathaniel Eve travelled around the Caribbean as a carpenter and his sister Beatrice went to the US.
"Some of the Eves in Bermuda remembered my aunt Beatrice who died a few years ago in Florida at the age of 90,'' Mr. Eve said. He added that the surname Eve was not a popular name and most of the Eves were located in the New York and Miami, Florida areas.
"I have five children and six grandchildren and I would like for them and my other relatives in New York and Florida to know their relatives that live in Bermuda.'' Mr. Eve also invited all the Eves to meet with him at the Clear View Suites and Villas in Hamilton Parish this Sunday at 3 p.m. in the conference room.
"The management has allowed us to use their conference room and it would be nice to get a picture of them all so I could share it with my other relatives.'' Mr. Eve also said that he can be contacted at 293-1469 or through the Clear View at 293-0484.
