Teen faces aggravated burglary charge

A teenager accused of aggravated burglary and handling a firearm has been denied bail in Magistrates’ Court.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered a short form preliminary inquiry for Leo Burgess, 17, of Sandys.This means a magistrate will decide if there is sufficient evidence to put him on trial.Mr Burgess is accused of participating in a December 6 attack on a house on South Road in Southampton, in which two men brandished what appeared to be a firearm. He is represented by defence lawyer Shade Subair.Mr Burgess was not required to enter a plea, as his case must be dealt with in Supreme Court.He was remanded into custody until February 22.
