WindReach, Bermuda School of Music unite for nativity scene

Essence of Christmas: WindReach Recreational Village is holding its annual live Nativity performance on Saturday. The event will begin at 6.30 p.m. with a procession to the decorated stable led by the central figures, Mary and Joseph, and Eyore the resident donkey. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Following the successful partnership between WindReach Recreational Village and the Bermuda School of Music in October, when they jointly presented an open-air performance of 'Missa Gaia', the two registered charities are again joining forces to present a live re-enactment of the Christmas nativity at the Warwick facility's petting zoo.

The popular family event, now in its fifth year and previously hosted by WindReach alone, will take place this Sunday, December 9, beginning with a procession at 6.30 p.m., led by Mary, Joseph and the resident donkey, Eyore, from the base of the sensory trail to the decorated stable at the petting zoo. Once everyone is assembled in the area, a short, 20-minute programme of lessons and carols will follow at 7 p.m. Song books will be handed out, with everyone being encouraged to join in.

Singers from the Bermuda Chamber Choir will lead the audience and participants in singing the traditional holiday carols. At the conclusion of the performance, soup and rolls will be served, and there will also stalls selling baked goods and Christmas decorations.

A further round of singing will bring the evening to a close at 8.30 p.m.

"The majority of our nativity players are clients who use WindReach year round, so this, and the authentic stable atmosphere, are ingredients for a very special evening," WindReach events and programmes spokesperson Jean Flath said.

Gates will open at 5.30 p.m., and there will be ample parking. Admission is $3 per person, or $10 per family.
